How to debug a Contact List in Doppler?

Do you need to send a campaign and your List has been blocked? Don’t worry! We can help 🙂

A list is blocked when a large number of emails are detected that could affect the reputation of your emails and the deliverability of your campaigns.

It’s important to clarify that at Doppler we don’t work with any specific debugging tool.

✅ Some tips for a healthy list
– Emails should have more than 4 characters before the “@”.
– They shouldn’t be just numbers (like [email protected]).
– Ideally, the database should be less than a year old.

You’ll see how to do this in a few steps. Log in to your Doppler account and, from the Lists section, click the “Revert” button. This step allows you to revert the last import before the block so you can manually clean it up and then reimport it once it’s healthy. Continue reading the guide to learn the requirements for having a healthy List 🙂

Below, we’ll give you a guide to help you build a healthy list 🙂

🚫 Nonexistent or incorrectly formatted Emails

Make sure your emails are formatted correctly and aren’t misspelled. These don’t reach their destination and only generate bounces:

[email protected]
[email protected]
@gmial
@gmal
@hotmal
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

🚫 Generic or role-based Emails

These emails tend to have very low open rates and are often not even reviewed by a real person. If for some reason you need to include them, this can ultimately affect your domain’s reputation and cause it to end up on a blacklist. Therefore, we recommend avoiding these types of emails unless you have real, active contact with them.

[email protected]

[email protected]

🚫 Emails from other countries that aren’t your target

For example, if they don’t interact, or if you even receive complaints or are marked as spam for receiving unwanted campaigns. Also, if your business operates only in Latin America, it doesn’t make sense to have emails from Europe. Furthermore, if your campaigns are in Spanish, those contacts probably won’t interact.

#DopplerTip: We recommend importing databases that are at most one year old to ensure they’re active and up-to-date.

Once you’ve cleaned up your contact database,

🔍Review it carefully and make sure all contacts:

  • Are real.
  • Are active.
  • Have given consent to receive your Emails.

After that, simply re-import the reverted list, and that’s it! Your account should be working normally again. 🙂
